Gene/Ripley

This slash isn't an actual slash, this is just two characters who i would really quite like to slash, and if they ever actually appeared on TV together i might actually combust. This isn't (necessarily) about Philip Glenister and David Morrissey (though they are both absolutely gorgeous) because they have been on screen together in State Of Play and Clocking Off. This is about Gene Hunt and Ripley Holden. They are such similar characters, with obviously slashy undertones, and you just know they would be a powder keg of sexual frustration if they were ever to meet!

Let's examine the evidence...

They both have big fuck off overcoats...

But often enjoy the more relaxed, undone tie, look...

They both *love* their cars...

They both enjoy a drink...

Or two...

And have to suffer the consequences of such excess...

They both enjoy a good smoke too...

They are both (for closeted reasons only) fans of the ladies...

They both like to take care of their appearance...

And are big fans of sunglasses (and how sexy do they both look!)

And despite their manly exteriors, they're both a little bit camp...

And, but of course, they both like it rough...


Now that we have seen their similarities, let us also examine they previous relationships...

Gene was with Sam...

And Ripley was with Peter...

Both relationships, though very hot, were quite volatile...

And both Gene and Ripley were man enough to know when to walk away...

Not that this was easy on either man...

They were both pretty cut up about it, in fact...

Neither could bear to be without their lovers...

They both expressed their loss using anger...

And then sank into deep depressions...

Because, ultimately, they are both really vulnerable...

But thankfully, they found solace in each others arms mouths...
